All cosmetic ingredient standards as well as organic regulations, allow the use of some non-naturally derived ingredients. We may use a minute amount of non-plant or mineral derived material such as Baking Soda, but only when we have not found a readily available plant or mineral based alternative that gives us the same desired outcome. But we don't give up, we continue research and development to replace non-naturally derived synthetics with natural derived ingredients.
